About the Role

This company is seeking a Cybersecurity & IT Coordinator to safeguard local digital assets while ensuring seamless integration with the parent company's systems in China. As the Malaysian office expands, maintaining the integrity of internal networks and aligning local security practices with HQ-level protocols has become a business priority.
In this role, you will serve as the on-site security authority for the KL office — configuring and managing security infrastructure, responding to incidents, conducting regular audits, and advising local management on technical risks. You will coordinate closely with the China-based IT specialist team — in Mandarin — to learn and implement the parent company's security protocols locally. This is a role that blends hands-on technical execution with meaningful strategic advisory responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT, with a clear focus on security or systems coordination

  • Professional fluency in Mandarin — Speaking, Reading, and Writing — is mandatory for technical coordination with the China HQ team

  • Solid hands-on experience with firewalls, VPN management, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection

  • Familiarity with vulnerability assessment methodologies and security audit practices

  • Understanding of access control, identity management, and data encryption principles

  • CCNA or equivalent security certification is a plus, though not mandatory

  • Willing and able to work fully on-site at the Kuala Lumpur office (Menara HLX)

Responsibilities

- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
- Monitor and protect company endpoints using antivirus, antimalware, and modern security tooling
- Detect, analyse, and respond to cybersecurity incidents or potential breaches promptly and decisively
- Coordinate with the China-based IT specialist team — in Mandarin — to learn security protocols and implement them within the Malaysian office
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits to ensure compliance and identify risks
- Implement and manage user authentication, identity management, and data encryption policies
- Advise local management on technical security risks, recommended mitigations, and best practices
- Maintain clear documentation of security configurations, incident logs, and audit findings

Salary and Benefits

- Monthly salary of up to MR 9,000, commensurate with experience
- Monthly travelling allowance provided
- Direct mentorship and learning opportunities from senior specialists at a publicly listed China HQ
- Exposure to international IT projects and large-scale subsidiary expansion work
- Standard annual leave and basic benefits
- High-visibility advisory role with access to both local management and group-level IT leadership
