About the Role
This company is seeking a Cybersecurity & IT Coordinator to safeguard local digital assets while ensuring seamless integration with the parent company's systems in China. As the Malaysian office expands, maintaining the integrity of internal networks and aligning local security practices with HQ-level protocols has become a business priority.
In this role, you will serve as the on-site security authority for the KL office — configuring and managing security infrastructure, responding to incidents, conducting regular audits, and advising local management on technical risks. You will coordinate closely with the China-based IT specialist team — in Mandarin — to learn and implement the parent company's security protocols locally. This is a role that blends hands-on technical execution with meaningful strategic advisory responsibility.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT, with a clear focus on security or systems coordination
Professional fluency in Mandarin — Speaking, Reading, and Writing — is mandatory for technical coordination with the China HQ team
Solid hands-on experience with firewalls, VPN management, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection
Familiarity with vulnerability assessment methodologies and security audit practices
Understanding of access control, identity management, and data encryption principles
CCNA or equivalent security certification is a plus, though not mandatory
Willing and able to work fully on-site at the Kuala Lumpur office (Menara HLX)
Responsibilities
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
- Monitor and protect company endpoints using antivirus, antimalware, and modern security tooling
- Detect, analyse, and respond to cybersecurity incidents or potential breaches promptly and decisively
- Coordinate with the China-based IT specialist team — in Mandarin — to learn security protocols and implement them within the Malaysian office
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits to ensure compliance and identify risks
- Implement and manage user authentication, identity management, and data encryption policies
- Advise local management on technical security risks, recommended mitigations, and best practices
- Maintain clear documentation of security configurations, incident logs, and audit findings

- Monthly salary of up to MR 9,000, commensurate with experience
