About the Role

This is a senior, customer-facing technical role for a seasoned Microsoft Teams specialist with deep expertise in voice architecture, telephony, and Unified Communications. As Teams Voice Customer Engineer, you will work directly with enterprise clients to design, deploy, optimise, and troubleshoot Microsoft Teams environments — with a particular focus on Teams Telephony, Direct Routing, PSTN configurations, and enterprise voice infrastructure.
You will deliver across a portfolio of Microsoft-aligned engagements including Teams Workshops, Pilots, Activations, and Optimisation projects — as well as Teams Apps engagements. This role demands a rare combination of deep technical mastery and polished client communication — the ability to architect complex voice solutions and present them confidently to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders. If you are a UC specialist who thrives at the intersection of technology and customer success, this role was built for you.

Requirements

Must Have

  • 5+ years of experience in customer-facing roles covering systems architecture, administration, operations, software support, or IT consulting — with a strong focus on Microsoft Teams or equivalent collaboration platforms

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • Advanced engineering and architectural design background in Unified Communications, with specialist depth in Microsoft Teams, PSTN, Teams Enterprise Voice, Direct Routing, and telephony infrastructure (SBCs, Contact Centres)

  • Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Teams architecture, features, administration, and voice capabilities

  • Strong experience with Skype for Business 2015/2019 and Lync — design, administration, support, and migration

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and Azure AD

  • Experience troubleshooting Teams calling, conferencing, media optimisation, and call quality issues

  • Familiarity with voice and network protocols, DNS, firewall, and network standards relevant to UC environments

  • PowerShell scripting skills for Teams administration and automation

Optional / Nice to Have

  • Advanced knowledge of application integration and Contact Centre solutions with Microsoft Teams

  • Advanced Active Directory / Azure AD / Entra ID concepts and Microsoft Graph scripting skills

  • Advanced networking skills covering DNS, firewall, and load balancing in UC environments

  • Experience building Azure Functions in support of Teams solutions

  • Knowledge of Teams bot development and the Microsoft Teams Toolkit

Relevant Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate (preferred)

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (preferred)

  • Other relevant Microsoft 365 or UC certifications are a plus
